You will see sparks fly when Handel’s Royal Fireworks Overture is performed with full orchestra. This piece was originally written without strings because King George II favored woodwinds and during its grand performance fireworks caught the bleachers on fire! The Lancaster Symphony will honor its annual Composer’s Award winner and the concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s dramatic Symphony No. 5, which he explained to be “a complete resignation before fate” by the use of the “Fate theme” building throughout each movement.

The performance will run approximately one hour and 45 minutes in length, including a 20-minute intermission.
