Lancaster Symphony Orchestra
Currently in its 64th season, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra is a 70-member professional orchestra conducted under the baton of Maestro Stephen Gunzenhauser, Music Director of the Lancaster Symphony for 33 years. The Symphony presents 24 Classic Concerts, a “Sounds of the Season” holiday program, a New Year’s Celebration, a patriotic concert, a new Symphony in a Snap! program targeted to younger professionals, and many other unique and entertaining concert programs!
Part of the Symphony’s mission statement is also fulfilled through its nationally recognized Sound Discovery Community Engagement Programs, whose purpose is to engage, build, and strengthen our community through imaginative and unique musical experiences. The Sound Discovery program has enabled the Symphony to impact over 8,500 students annually in Lancaster.
Lancaster Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1947 by Frederic S. Klein and John H. Peifer, J., from Franklin & Marshall College.
