There's no place like Lititz, and there's no better time to visit than during their annual Fire & Ice Festival. This year the festival's organizers are stretching out the fun, and the crowds, hosting the festival for 10 days, from February 17th to the 26th. During that time, you're invited to stroll the streets, see all the wow-worthy ice sculptures, and sample all of Lititz's delicious treats.
Start the event early with Winter’s Coolest Night Out, a ticketed special launch party for the Fire & Ice Festival, sponsored by Luther Acres. There will be live ice carving, live musical entertainment, and a viewing of our Local Eyes Photography Exhibit.
Highlights of this year's Fire & Ice Festival include a special family-focused day where the Lititz Lions will be a having a chili cook-off! Details will becoming on how to purchase a chili-tasting pin and what fun activities there will be for your kiddos at the Lititz Leo’s Kids Carnival.
From 11am-2pm on February 20st, Weaver Energy is turning Lititz Springs Park into a Winter Funderland, complete with an obstacle course featuring bouncy attractions. There will also be fire and ice demonstrations by the Lancaster Science Factory, games, treats and more. On Thursday, February 24th from 2pm-6pm, a special Maker's Market will be held in Linden Hall gymnasium. Here, you'll be able to purchase the wares of local Lititz makers and artists.
The town is bringing back it's Local Eyes Photography Exhibition, a showcase of iconic images captured in Lititz by Lititz photographers. See it free throughout the event at The Lititz Shirt Factory.
Of course, in between all the activities, you'll want to make time for shopping. Lititz is known for its vibrant mix of shops. Right now, everyone's buzzing about the expertly curated mix of antiques, art, and home goods at The Little Timber House on North Broad Street, as well as the fair trade treasures at Bunyaad Marketplace on Main Street. Other shops to put on your must-visit list include Savory Gourmet, Zest!, and, of course, The Tattered Shirt for Lititz-branded shirts, sweatshirts, beanies and more. Oh, and don’t forget to pick up your Wilbur Buds from the Wilbur Chocolate Store!
The last day of the event is, Sunday Funday. From 1pm - 4pm in Lititz Springs Park, the town will be saying “see ya later” to winter and trying to will warmer weather into Lititz. There will be corn hole, summer tunes, and showing mother nature that the white stuff can be over.
Likely touring around town shopping and taking photos of all those ice sculptures will work up an appetite. The Blackworth Live Fire Grill features wood-fired cuisine, the perfect way to add some heat to your Fire & Ice experience. Other Lititz favorites include the Bulls Head Public House and the Lititz Springs Restaurant, or check out Tied House Lititz for locally brewed St. Boniface Craft Beer and amazing food. A food truck food court will also greet hungry festival-goers on select days, more information to come. Given the limits on dining, we highly suggest reservations at the restaurants.
Other in-town attractions include Lititz Springs Park, which is an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll. Adults and kids alike will love greeting the ducks who call the fresh spring that runs through the park home. Another great outdoor spot is the new Tree House Playground. This community designed playground is a place where children of all abilities can play safely. Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, the first commercial pretzel bakery in America, right on Main Street, offers intimate tours of the bakery and the opportunity to become an official pretzel twister! Their shop has a wide variety of pretzels for purchase as well.
