The James Buchanan Foundation invites you to experience Wheatland, the home of James Buchanan - 15th President of the United States. Situated on four acres of rolling lawns and gardens and shaded by stately trees, Wheatland provides a vivid and inspiring perspective on America in the 1850s and on one man's struggle to preserve the Union on the eve of the Civil War.
Wheatland is conveniently located just minutes from historic downtown Lancaster. Enjoy the stately porches and beautifully restored interiors of this 1828 National Historic Landmark. Amenities include ample parking, public restrooms and catering facilities.
Reservations are required for groups over 10 people to ensure adequate guide staffing. We require reservations being made at least two weeks in advance.
The mansion can accommodate 60 people inside at one time. If you have a group larger than 60, we recommend splitting your group into groups of 60 or less and scheduling alternating times next door at the Lancaster County Historical Society.
