Homeschool Wednesday: Maple Sugaring
This event has expired and is here for your information.
Homeschool science classes continue into spring with Naturalist Mary Ann Schlegel. Early March is typically sugaring time in Lancaster County! After identifying maple trees – and sugar maples in particular - we will measure and tap trees, collect sap, and boil sap to syrup. Along the way, students will learn the history and science behind this beloved but very weather-dependent process. Plan for outdoor activity. Programs are geared for ages 8 through 12. Children under age 8 are welcome if accompanying older siblings; please call to register them. Register online or call (717) 295-2055 to register and prepay by noon on Tuesday, March 2. $4.00 per child and $1.00 per adult.
