James O'Donnell Organ Recital

Event Details

Oct 29

The Lancaster Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will host prominent organist James O’Donnell for a recital as the inaugural Moyer Concert Series concert on Sunday, October 29 at 4:00 PM. O’Donnell succeeds Thomas Murray as Professor in the Practice of Organ at Yale University School of Music following a 23-year tenure as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey, London, where he led the Abbey Choir and directed all aspects of music for historic events, most recently the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The recital will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster on their historic Aeolian-Skinner organ, where O’Donnell will play a masterful selection of iconic recital repertoire and pieces new to many, including Maurice Duruflé’s “Prelude and Fugue on A-L-A-I-N” and C.H.H. Parry’s “Prelude and Fugue in G Major.” An early arrival is advised for this exciting concert event with free admission happening right here in Lancaster. First Presbyterian Church is located at 140 East Orange Street.

The Moyer Concert Series is made possible through the generous donation by Dr. Karl Moyer, Fellow of the American Guild of Organists, member of the Lancaster Chapter, and Professor of Music Emeritus of Millersville University in memory of his late wife, Carolyn.
