Lecture: Veteran Reconciliation After the Civil War

Event Details

Sep 15

On Thursday, September 15, local author and journalist Jack Brubaker will join LancasterHistory for a lecture on his latest publication, Sons of East Tennessee: Civil War Veterans Divided and Reconciled. Reconciliation following the Civil War was a difficult process for many veterans. This was true of soldiers who returned to Northern cities such as Lancaster, as well as to Southern cities such a Knoxville. Local author and journalist Jack Brubaker will discuss his latest book, the story of two East Tennessee fathers on opposite sides of the war in a deeply divided section of the country who met and reconciled at the graves of their sons. Brubaker will also discuss the process of reconciliation as it played out in Lancaster and the rest of the country.

This event is expected to take place in person at LancasterHistory and online on Thursday, September 15. The doors open and check in begins at 6:30pm. The lecture will begin at 7pm. The lecture will also be streamed to Zoom for those who wish to join us for the lecture virtually.

The program is free and open to the public but requires advance registration in order to guarantee a seat or to receive your Zoom link to the presentation.
