The Amish Experience at Plain & Fancy Farm is a complete cultural interpretive center for visitors wanting to learn about and interact with the Amish community.

It is home to the only "experiential" theater on the East Coast. The story of “Jacob’s Choice” focuses on the Amish today through the eyes of the Fisher family, with historical scenes re-created with multiple projection screens, special effects, ghostly images, wind and rain, in a three dimensional set. The 40-minute shows begin on the hour, 7 days a week, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, mid-March through December.

On-site is the Amish Country Homestead & One-Room School, the only designated Lancaster County “Heritage Site” Amish house tour. Guides explain Amish riddles, one-room education, life without electricity, and Plain dress.

Also featured are these countryside tours April through November:

Amish Farmlands Tour - For over 50 years, Amish Country's oldest regularly scheduled tours explore Amish culture up close at work and play, with certified guides on 90-minute backroad tours in 14-passenger mini-shuttles. Includes bonus buggy ride. Tours depart 7 days a week at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, or 4:00 PM, April through November. Special SuperSaver Package includes all of the above.

Amish V.I.P. (Visit in Person) Tour - Unique, intimate visit to 3 Amish properties --- a farm at milking time to learn how the Amish milk cows without electricity, a home “cottage industry” to hear about and observe a unique craft, and a visit to an Amish family for an informal chat right in their home. (Limited to 14 guests.) Designated Lancaster County Heritage Tour. Tours offered April – November, Tuesday – Saturday at 5:00 pm, with added tours at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm July through Labor Day.

Unrelated to the Amish, the theater also offers Magic Lantern Shows, a form of entertainment before there were movies. The only permanent Magic Lantern Theater in the world offers a Patriotic Show in the summer, and a Holiday Christmas Show, with a live Showman, music, and spectacular images from an 1890 “triunial” lantern. In addition, a Bible Stories and Underground Railroad show are available to groups of 25 or more year-round.
