Lemon Street Market is a woman-owned, independent grocery store located just off the corner of Mulberry and Lemon Street in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. Our store focuses on sustainable and healthy living, with many local, organic, vegan, and gluten-free options. We’re open 7 days a week, including our kitchen, serving coffee, tea, espresso, fresh juices, smoothies, hot soup (seasonally), and takeout items.
Lemon Street Market carries two or three brands of each product, locally and regionally produced whenever possible. Stocking decisions are made by considering many factors, including if a product is organic or fair trade; if the ingredients are GMO-free; or if packaging is biodegradable or BPA-free. We offer a variety of produce, meat and fish (frozen), cheese, eggs, baked goods, baking items, bulk foods (pasta, spices, rice, quinoa, olive oil, etc), household and cleaning supplies (including bulk options), gardening supplies, snacks, gifts, and more.
For each dollar spent at a local, family-owned business, 80% goes back into the local economy. For every dollar spent at large, corporate-owned stores, only 20% makes it back into the local economy. By carefully curating store o?erings to cultivate food, health, and community, Lemon Street Market builds authentic, sustainable relationships with producers based in Lancaster and the surrounding region. When you shop at Lemon Street Market, you’ll have the opportunity to make a donation at the register to support one of our community partner organizations. In 2017, Lemon Street Market launched the first #GiveLocal campaign, partnering with local organizations to invite shoppers to “round up” at the register. In our first year, customers donated over $3,000 to organizations like The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, Clare House, and Power Packs Project. 2018 #GiveLocal partner organizations include Pregnancy and Postpartum Mental Health of Lancaster County (PPMHLC), The Mix at Arbor Place, The Common Wheel, Meals on Wheels Lancaster County, Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, and Lancaster Farmland Trust.
We have four designated parking spots in front of the store, including one ADA-accessible spot. Please note that only 40% of our store is easily ADA-accessible. We offer additional parking at the Boys and Girls Club lot, just a few steps away. There is often street parking available on both Lemon and Mulberry Streets—but watch for posted street cleaning signs.
