Wheelchair Accessible Itinerary to Lancaster, PA

If you’re visiting Lancaster County, PA and using a wheelchair this is the perfect itinerary for your trip!

Morning

Wake up in Amish Country at Best Western Plus Intercourse Village Inn & Suites. Their property features a step-free entryway, accessible parking spaces, ramps, and elevators. They also have a luxurious indoor pool and spa with a wheelchair lift for each.

From there, head out for breakfast at D.J.’s Taste of the 50s. This 50s-themed restaurant offers tried and true breakfast favorites. The restaurant has a wheelchair accessible entryway, accessible parking spaces, and a friendly staff available to assist with anything you may need while onsite.

If you’re a coffee lover, stop by Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Café for a quick cup of coffee and a savory or sweet treat. The Café offers accessible parking spaces, elevators and ramps, and a step-free entryway.

Afternoon

Experience the rich Amish Culture of Lancaster County with an immersive tour at Amish Farm and House. Their expansive property features wheelchair accessible farm areas, restrooms, and gift shop. They also offer a farmland tour and have an accessible bus complete with a wheelchair lift.

Stop by Barry’s Car Barn to see a collection of American muscle cars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. This beautiful museum is ADA-compliant with accessible parking spaces and restrooms.

After exploring Barry’s Car Barn, refuel at BJ's Pit Stop Bar & Grill, located on the second floor above the museum. This car-themed restaurant serves classic pub fare like burgers, pizzas, and wings, and is a convenient spot to sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal.

As your day starts to wind down, head over to Kitchen Kettle Village for a couple of fun-filled hours of shopping, live music (on select days), and delicious food samples. The Village has accessible parking spaces, a restaurant, and restrooms. They also have two wheelchairs on hand for guests who may need them. Most of the shops are wheelchair accessible, and the Village pathways are wide and paved.

Evening

Take a trip from Amish Country to Downtown Lancaster for an exciting evening of exploring. During baseball season, catch a Lancaster Stormers game at Penn Medicine Park. The park has free, accessible parking spaces and stadium seating. Their concourse area is wide and wide, allowing plenty of space to maneuver a wheelchair.

If it’s the off season, a great option for families with young children is Tiny Town – a hands-on, interactive, play-based center where kids can explore nine luxury playhouses with all the accessories All of the their playhouses have wide, open doors and accessories set at a lower height for easy access. There are ramps, elevators, and accessible parking spaces too.

Or, see a show at Fulton Theatre or Prima Theatre. Fulton Theatre is considered to be the nation's oldest continuously operating theatre, right in Downtown Lancaster. They have accessible seating and restrooms, as well as a step-free entryway, ramps, and elevators. Prima is Lancaster's boutique theatrical experience, located just outside of Downtown. The property features accessible parking, step-free entryway, accessible restrooms and seating areas.

For an adult-only dinner, head up to Lancaster’s beloved rooftop bar – The Exchange. The restaurant serves small plates and has a beverage forward menu with many unique offerings. The main entrance is step-free and there’s an elevator to take you up to the roof. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are wheelchair accessible.

If you’re traveling with kiddos, Casey Jones' Restaurant is the ultimate experience because you’ll be dining inside a restored dining train cars. The restaurant has accessible parking, restrooms, and seating areas. Ramps are available upon request.
