"Yerma" - Paloma Players - Lancaster’s Paloma Players kick off the Susquehanna Latino Arts Festival, a new month long celebration of arts and culture in Lancaster City, with a production of Yerma, by Federico García Lorca. Written in 1934, García Lorca describes the play as "a tragic poem," Yerma (which is Spanish for barren,) tells the story of a childless woman whose desperate desire for motherhood becomes an obsession that eventually drives her to commit a horrific crime. Though originally the play is set in Spain, this version is in Chihuahua, Mexico, in honor of Cinco de Mayo festivities. Join us on Friday, May 5 to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! This night is featured as part of the “We The People: First Friday Initiative” series of free First Friday performance events curated by a team of local artists representing various Lancaster communities.
