Haldeman Mansion
Regarded as one of the most haunted places in Lancaster, the Haldeman Mansion dates back to the 1700s. Sightings, including a grouchy man, a little girl, a teenage boy, and a jovial, singing female servant, have been reported. The lingering spirits may be due to the unmarked graves found under the building when plumbing and electric were added to the property.
Fulton Theatre
Lancaster’s oldest theatre is also one of our most haunted locations. Reports of hauntings date back to before the theatre was even erected, since the theatre was built on the foundation of the old Lancaster jail. This was the location of the Paxton Boys massacre, where 14 Conestoga Indians were murdered.
Railroad House Inn
Dating back to the 1820s, this restaurant and inn is a haunted hot spot. From men who worked nearby to a young girl in Victorian-style clothing, customers and guests at the inn have experienced apparitions in various areas around the property.
Franklin & Marshall College
Built in the 1850s, Franklin & Marshall’s Old Main Building was reportedly built on the site of Lancaster’s “Gallows Hill,” where criminals were hanged after trial. Paranormal activity has been reported, including the bell tolling at night by itself. If you want to learn more about the potentially haunted locations around Lancaster City and Strasburg, Ghost Tours of Lancaster has you covered, and are available nightly through October.
