Haunted Rails and Tales
October 3, 2025 to October 5, 2025
Local folklore, fables, and phenomena come alive for a unique steam train experience during Strasburg Rail Road’s Haunted Rails & Tails, based on the published works of Matt Lake. Lake will serve as the ghostly host as he guides guests through the weird, eerie, and spooky tales of Lancaster County and its environs.
Author and storyteller Matt Lake has appeared in film, on television, and on the stage as an actor, host, and interview subject. He is the author of several books, including Weird Pennsylvania and Weird Maryland. After extensive stage work in the Philadelphia area, where he won Best Supporting Actor in the 2017 regional BroadwayWorld awards, he began appearing in short films and feature-length movies. He has featured roles in Butterfly Kisses (2018), What Happens Next Will Scare You (2019), and the short film Den of Lions (2018), as well as They Watch (currently in production).
Haunted Rails & Tales features a professional cast of actors who have performed around the world with companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruises, Broadway Asia, Celebrity Cruises, and Live Nation Concerts. They’ve also performed locally at Lancaster’s American Music Theatre, Sight & Sound Theatre, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, and the historic Fulton Theatre.
A pre-boarding act/performance will commence 15 minutes before departure. Please plan to arrive early for check-in and then enjoy the pre-boarding performance at the “town square stage” before you embark on a memorable journey!
Upon return, gather around the “town square stage” for a unique post-show!
