Entertainment - Kirk Reese

Since 1993, Reese has been a valued member of the music faculty at Messiah College, where he imparts his knowledge of jazz improvisation and piano to aspiring musicians. During his tenure, he has fostered a vibrant small-group jazz culture, enriching the department's offerings, bolstering the big bands, and igniting a lifelong passion for the art form among many students. Beyond academia, he also shares his expertise as a clinician, conducting improvisation workshops throughout the region. Additionally, he contributes as an artist and faculty member for the Central PA Friends of Jazz Camp at Messiah College.

Reese's bands have had the honor of opening for esteemed acts like Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, BB King, Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck), and Bob Mintzer (Yellow Jackets). His educational background includes attending Elizabethtown College, where he focused on piano, music theory, and composition. He furthered his studies under the guidance of Ron Thomas in Philadelphia, receiving private instruction, and delved into jazz theory with Steve Giordano and Cedar Walton.

Apart from his academic and performance commitments, Reese also dedicates time to private teaching in Elizabethtown and York, PA. His contributions extend to the recording studio as well, with the release of his own album, "Impressions," in 2016.
