Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen is celebrating 20 years in Lancaster County! The Washington Post, Baltimore Style, Shunpikers' Guide, Central PA Magazine & PA's Pursuit Magazine to name a few have featured this popular eatery. It has been chosen over the years as Lancaster's Best Kept Secret, Best Ethnic Food in Central Pa. as well as Peoples' Choice Award.
Built in 1853, the former Rising Sun Hotel is a perfect setting for this unique restaurant. Open seven days a week with no Monday lunch makes for a great stop when visiting the Historic Rivertown of Columbia. Located on Historic Lincoln Highway, Prudhomme's is a member of the Civil War Trail and just down the street from the National Watch & Clock Museum, Historic Susquehanna Glass Factory as well as several wonderful antique emporiums.
The main dining room holds New Orleans Jazz Horns, Mardi Gras Beads, Fleur de Lis, artwork, gator skin and heads. The quaint tavern boasts lots of original 1800's cabinetry, carved wood, tiled floor and most visits find "Killer" the Louisiana crawfish with attitude in his tank to the delight of many travelers and children! Many folks choose to dine in the tavern area at either low or hightop tables. The shelves are adorned with interesting artifacts from LA as well as funny and unique "gifts" from many customers over the years.
Husband & wife team David and Sharon Prudhomme are both owners and chefs. David hails from the Lafayette area of Louisiana. Most folks are familiar with Dave's uncle, Chef Paul Prudhomme who operates K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen in the French Quarters. Sharon, a Northern NJ gal & former teacher collaborates with David to create their own creative recipes. Sharon, one of ABC TV 27's Mid Day Gourmets has been cooking live each month for 10 years offering fun ideas for home cooking.
Check for music listings on the website for various artists five nights a week. Two favorites are the Johnny Presto & Gals, a Rat Pack tribute with show tunes and more, the other is Charles Lee & his fantastic Motown & oldies!
