Aaron & Jessica's Buggy Rides

3121 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, PA 17505 | (717) 768-8828

Aaron & Jessica's Buggy Rides is owned by Plain people (Amish, Brethren and Mennonites). Enjoy a four-mile or longer private ride through Amish Country. Tours visit working Amish farms and are driven by an Amish or Mennonite person. Choose one of their many rides options (to find more tours, visit their website!):

  • Country & Cookie Tour (30 minutes): Travel country roads, the way the Amish travel! The horses and carriages will take you by Amish lands that are still plowed by horses. This is an all-Amish farmland area, passing some of the first farms, settled here as early as 1700s. Cookies, snacks and drinks are USUALLY available for purchase, depending on our Amish neighbors availability.
  • Farm Tour (60 minutes): A 50-60 min ride to Lancaster’s best! Experience the Amish way of life on a real working Amish farm. Tour the barn, see the cows, chickens, goats, and horses. Discover life without electricity and how the Amish remain separate from traditional American society! Cookies, snacks and drinks are USUALLY available for purchase, depending on our Amish neighbors availability.
  • At Home Tour (90 minutes): A rare opportunity to visit with an Amish Grandma in her “Grosdaudy” (grandparent) house on an Amish farm. Grandma Sadie loves meeting people and has owned a market stand for decades. Now retired, she has a little stand on the homestead with plants, homemade crafts, and home canned goods. Items may be available for purchase. This is your chance to chat one-on-one about Amish life with a real Amish grandma at her own homestead!

Credit cards, personal checks, & cash are accepted. Open year-round, Monday - Saturday, Sunday rides resume March 31, 2024, weather permitting.

Sit back and relax as they take you on a ride through Amish farmland, stopping at a real Amish homestead and passing some sites dating back to the 1700s. The buggy goes by an Amish schoolhouse where you will often catch the children out on break playing ball. A large part of their customers are repeats (some come every year), so you know they are having fun. They offer two-mile, four-mile, and five-mile rides.

They have five different rides to choose from where you will pass by several Amish farms, an Amish one-room schoolhouse, and other sites dating back to the 1700's. All but one of the rides travel through a beautiful four-arched Railroad bridge also dating back to the 1700's. The two longest rides will take you to an Amish/ Mennonite craft store and bake shop. So whether you just want a quick twenty-minute ride to get the feel of traveling "Amish" style or you want to take relax with our one hour and fifteen-minute ride, the choice is yours.
