The Amish Village

Take a guided tour of an authentic 1840's Amish farmhouse and learn about today's Amish lifestyle. Then, after your farmhouse tour, explore our 12-acre village grounds, mingle with our Amish staff and say "hi" to Mr. Ed the horse. Even have your picture taken on a real Amish buggy.

Have fun while learning something new with the area's only authentic Amish lessons, taught in our one-room schoolhouse. During the summer, an actual Amish schoolteacher will share her wisdom along with a real Amish lesson. As winter arrives and Christmas nears, see how the Amish decorate for Christmas in the one room schoolhouse and enjoy the Amish Holiday Tradition Tour. Decorations will captivate, seasonal samples of Amish delights will be available, and an array of traditional Amish Christmas gifts and holiday items will be available for purchase.

Stop by for a visit! We're looking forward to welcoming you to Lancaster County!

Amish Village Backroads Bus Tours
As a passenger aboard the Amish Village Backroads Bus Tour, you can have these questions answered as they come up. The 1-1/2 hour tour will take you off the beaten path, past working farms and along country roads where buggies roll along and farmers work their fields. Your driver will narrate as you gaze out the windows, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at Amish life – history, customs, beliefs and traditions. Your fellow passengers may even ask a question you hadn’t thought of! What a great way to learn how this special community thrives in a 21st century world.

Each bus tour includes at least at one stop at unique locations such as an Amish home, quilt shop, pretzel bakery or bake shop.

Amish Village Backroads Bus Tour is part of The Amish Village, an authentic Amish homestead along Route 896, just down the road from Sight & Sound Theatres. Our tour options include the 90-minute Bus Tour, as well as a Farmhouse Tour and self-guided exploration of the Village grounds. Tours are offered separately or as a combination package. Come and ride with us as we explore the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County.
