Top Things to Do in Lancaster, PA this January

It’s always good to try something new, and embrace new challenges each year. It helps us to continue to grow and learn new skills. To ring in the new year, why not learn some new things, try some activities you haven’t done before, or perhaps, take your family to try an experience you did as a child. Get Outside

If you are a snow-bunny at heart, one of the most popular winter attractions in Central PA is AvalancheXpress Snow Tubing. Bundle up and beat your family’s cabin fever by heading over to the hills for some great outdoor fun.

January 5 is National Winter Trails Day, whether you venture out on your own or join a Naturalist Guide in Lancaster County Central Park you are sure to see the beauty and splendor of our County in winter. The Lancaster County Park Environmental Center offers year-round events and activities for adults and children to learn about the wildlife around them.

Take in a New Cultural Experience

Think you aren’t cut out for arts and culture? Lancaster offers a number of high caliber theatre performance from Broadway-quality musicals, comedies, dramas, orchestra performances, and nationally renowned musicians. You can certainly find a show you will enjoy. Check out the schedules at the American Music Theatre, The Fulton Theatre, The Ware Center, and The Trust Performing Arts Center to see what fits your calendar. You may find you love jazz music after all, if you give it a try!

On January 11, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra is offering a free open rehearsal. This setting allows children and adults to enjoy music and learn more about what is happening on stage, and is great for budding music enthusiasts. For those who are fans of Dancing with the Stars, on January 22 the show is back on tour live at American Music Theatre! This production showcases ballroom and contemporary dance styles including group numbers and duets.

Other upcoming shows you will find on stage this month include Stand By Your Man at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre and Chicago at the Fulton Theatre.
