1. Outdoor Adventures

Channel your inner adventurer and soar through the trees on the Ziplines at Refreshing Mountain, spend the weekend at the Cabins at Refreshing Mountain, and beat the summer heat in their community pool. You can also participate in an elevated obstacle course, an interactive equine and farm animal program, and a rock-climbing wall, amongst other exciting activities.

2. Visit Downtown

Stroll around vibrant Downtown Lancaster during Music Friday with live performances scattered throughout the city. These are held on the third Friday of each month, but you can also experience live music at First Friday, a similar event that takes place at the start of each month. 3. Eat Outdoors

6. Learn Lancaster's Rich History

Dive into Lancaster’s rich history with a Historic Lancaster Walking Tour to learn more about the area in a fun and interactive way. The 2020 season will begin on July 1st. Better yet—all the proceeds go toward Lancaster City-based charities and non-profits. What a great way to get involved in the community!

Browse around for fresh-picked produce, local meats and cheeses, and the most scrumptious desserts you’ve ever tasted at a local roadside stand or market. You might even run into some Amish folk while you’re there.

8. Strasburg Rail Road

Kids and train lovers alike will love meeting Thomas the Tank Engine when he comes to Strasburg Rail Road for Day Out with Thomas in mid-September. For older folks who still want to get that Strasburg train experience without the kid-centric festivities, you can buy a regular ticket that entitles you to a 45-minute round trip chugging along while gazing out the window at an Amish countryside backdrop.

Celebrate the end of a long work week with craft brews. Head to Lancaster Craft Beerfest, held in August in Downtown Lancaster, or Ephrata Brewfest, held in June. You can also check out some local breweries, such as Lancaster Brewing Company, St. Boniface Craft Brewing Company, Bube’s Brewery, and more. Be sure to check out Rivertown Hops in Columbia, PA in early August, as well, for limitless samples of craft beer, cider, wine, and spirits, in addition to small bites provided by local eateries, music, and vendors.

12. Beat The Heat

Take a dip at Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach, located 25 miles north of Lancaster County. Whether you enjoy swimming, laying out a beach towel on the sand and tanning, or picnicking somewhere with a view, this secluded location is perfect.
