Susquehanna Heritage

As a designated National and State Heritage Area, the Susquehanna National Heritage Area helps identify, preserve, interpret and promote the wonderfully rich heritage and culture of Lancaster and York Counties.

Visit the two centers they manage along the Susquehanna River. Columbia Crossing located along the NW River Trail in Lancaster County and the Zimmerman Center for Heritage on the York County side of the river. You'll find great childrens activities scheduled throughout the year, interesting heritage tours about local native american tribes, and an amazing river art collection.

Our River Discovery Boat Tours are open to the public. Explore the Susquehanna River in a comfortable 10-passenger pontoon boat. Susquehanna National Heritage Area guides will lead you on a 1 hour 15 minute tour of the river, where you will experience the joy of being on the water, hearing stories of the river, and viewing beautiful scenery and wildlife.

FREE tours will depart from the Zimmerman Center for Heritage dock every Saturday and Sunday through the summer at 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:30 PM. Online reservations are highly recommended.
