October 2, 2026
5:00 PM
–8:00 PM
Make the Ware Center for the Arts part of your Lancaster City First Friday route! Join us for an evening of poetry and art focused on peace, justice, and unity.
At 7 pm in Steinman Hall, join us for a free performance by Voices of Peace, a collective of five artists and activists from diverse backgrounds who use poetry to promote peace, justice, and unity. Through a curated selection of global poems, they highlight the impacts of war while emphasizing hope, resilience, and solidarity.
From 5 to 8 pm in the atrium, the 8th Annual Peace Kids to the Rescue Art Show and Silent Auction, which features artwork donated by over 70 children from ages 3 to 18, giving young artists an opportunity to use their creativity to make a difference in their communities. Proceeds from the art show and auction benefit Church World Service and the Arch Street Center.
In the Regitz Gallery from 5 to 8 pm, stop by the opening of a new gallery exhibit—Caryolyn Harper's Prison Portrait Project. Hand-sewn, large-format quilts and hand-embroidered batiks portray incarcerated individuals, shining a spotlight on a population the world has largely forgotten.
Free and open to the public!
