Event Details

Sep 06

Millersville University’s Ware Center is located in the heart of downtown Lancaster, a city that comes alive on First Friday with free events, galleries to walk through, and shops to explore.

We the People First Friday is a free monthly event that features community-centered performances and exhibits that represent the great mosaic of Lancaster and beyond with genres as diverse as our nation! FREE and open to the public. No tickets are required. Coming this month:

Peace Kids to the Rescue Art Show & Silent Auction

In the Lyet Lobby, the 6th Annual Peace Kids to the Rescue Art Show and Silent Auction empowers young people to use their creativity to help those in their communities. Artwork created by children aged 4 to 19 is auctioned to raise funds for Church World Service and The Arch Street Center.

Opening Reception: “Flowers need time to bloom”

In the Regitz Gallery, a reception will celebrate the opening of the exhibit “Flowers need time to bloom” by artist Roohafza Emami. Born and raised in Afghanistan, artist Roohafza Emami lost her husband and fled the country with her four children, resettling in Lancaster. Once helped by the Women’s Global Village program, Emami returned as a leader to help a new group of refugee women. Emami finds healing through her art, especially painting. The exhibit will be on display through September 27.
